Belgravia Garden

Balcony, basement, roof gardens and interior planting of a mansion house in Belgravia, SW1W

Located on South Eaton Place, the design of various outdoor spaces also included the design of window boxes and interior planting. The garden design was commissioned by London based architecture and design practice Studio Ilse, who were responsible for the interior design of the house.

Throughout the different exterior spaces, handmade clay pots in different shapes and sizes sourced from Belgium company Atelier Vierkant were used combined with vintage containers and brass lacquered copper planters sourced from Bronzino. Tio Easy Chairs designed and produced by the Swedish company Massproductions and rattan sofas by British company Soane, offer informal seating opportunities.

Planting highlights include multi-stem Amelanchier canadensis 'Forest Pansy' trees underplanted with Thymus vulgaris and Geranium nodosum. Elsewhere, perennials and ornamentals grasses such as Sedum spectabile ‘Autumn Joy’, Oenothera lindheimeri ‘Whirling Butterflies’ and Anemanthele lessoniana spill out of containers, giving the appearance of a true garden, rather than simply an outside space with plants in pots.
