Hampstead Garden

Front and rear garden design of a Georgian house on Downshire Hill in Hampstead, London, NW3

Embracing the elevated southerly aspect of this terrace house on Downshire Hill in Hampstead, renovated by Barbara Weiss architects, the front garden was designed to offer densely planted views from the house and also be visible and enjoyed by passers-by. The steeply terraced rear garden features a garden studio, long oak clad raised beds, and herringbone brick paving.

Rosmarinus ‘Miss Jessops Upright’ and Rosa ‘Desdemona’ feature strongly in the planting design of the front garden, while multiple climbing roses and a burst of Anemone x hybrida ‘Honorine Jobert’ at the end of the summer are signatures of the rear garden.
